Holiday Residence and Bed and Breakfast in Carpentras english

At the end of the 16th century the house belonged to Jean Roger de Seguins, who was a lawyer and the Pope’s attorney general in Comtat. In his will of 12 July 1626 he passed the house on to the Seguins Vassieux branch of the family.

The earthquake which struck Carpentras in 1738 severely damaged the building so that by 1740 it could not longer be lived in.

On the 17 August 1743 the Marquis de Vassieux sold his house to the Noble Joseph François Bonet. It was probably this gentleman who rebuilt the mansion and gave it its current appearance.

His widow gave it to her niece, the wife of Paul Joseph Barjavel, a member of the Carpentras middle class who was consul in 1773 and 1774. He was also a town official in 1790.
